The first set reflects 2014 biweekly rates for CSEA represented state employees who are Grade 9 and below. The second set reflects 2014 biweekly rates for CSEA represented state employees who are Grade 10 and above. Please note that some of the HMOs saw a significant increase in health insurance premiums. GHI HMO in particular is seeing a more than $200 biweekly premium increase in family rates. Simmons is PEOPLE Recruiter of the Month BEACON — Reuben Simmons Jr. of the Dutchess County Local in the Southern Region is the PEOPLE Recruiter of the Month for November. He recruited 19 new PEOPLE members at the MVP level. “When I am recruiting new PEOPLE members, I explain that to fight the corporate agenda, we need to be able to fight back financially,” said Simmons, who serves as the Southern Region PEOPLE Committee chair. “I tell our members that supporting PEOPLE is about investing in ourselves. This is one of many tactics we can use to fight back. Since the Citizens United decision, this has become more important than ever.” Simmons “People help their communities by supporting non-profit community organizations; supporting PEOPLE is about investing in you,” he said. “It’s about Medicare, Social Security, pensions. This is what we should do as union members: fight back on the federal level.” CSEA’s PEOPLE program protects and improves our jobs, benefits and pensions in Washington, Albany and in your community. Your support and participation in PEOPLE strengthens CSEA’s clout in the workplace, in the legislature, in your community and in the labor movement. — Jessica Ladlee Important update on the Empire Plan Mental Health/Substance Abuse contract We previously reported that New York state awarded Value Options the Empire Plan Mental Health/Substance Abuse contract.
