New solar benefit for CSEA members! To help members save money on their utility bills, CSEA is launching a new member benefit – solar power systems for homeowners. Solar power on a home saves consumers hundreds of dollars per year by generating electricity from the sun that otherwise would be purchased from the local utility. “Utility bills are a challenge for our members,” said CSEA President Danny Donohue. “This new benefit is a practical way to cut costs, while adding to the value of your home.” The program for members features a new state solar incentive — 100 percent financing. The combination of grants, tax credits, and a low interest loan will cover all the costs for most systems. “Plus, we offer a union solution: American-made modules with installation by union contractors, all at a discount for CSEA members,” said American Solar Managing Director Lee Smith. ASP has pledged to provide CSEA members the most competitive prices available and will match the price of any competitor. ASP has a long track record working with unions and union members, including NYSUT and IBEW. Long-lasting, no-hassle product • 25-year equipment warranty on the modules; • 20 years on the components; • Systems come with a five-year installation warranty, including maintenance; • No moving parts, little maintenance required, (just annual cleaning with a garden hose); and, • Monitoring showing output data and performance on a home computer. Why the solar benefit is important • Rising utility bills have hit working New Yorkers hard. • Solar power is an effective way to save money on utility bills. • Solar power is growing in popularity because it is a concrete way to cut utility bills.
