Your Employee Benefit Fund benefits and COBRA COBRA allows employees who leave employment due to a qualifying event the option of continuing the same benefits you had while working for up to 36 months. For CSEA Employee Benefit Fund members, employees would use COBRA by paying the EBF directly for benefits. This means your benefits can continue long past the time that you leave employment. Coverage can last for up to 36 months. Employees of New York state and the Unified Court System have 28 days of coverage after the last day worked. Local government workers’ eligibility is determined by their employer. Do you have questions? Upon receipt of a termination date, the EBF will send a COBRA mailing or other applicable mailings depending on where you work. In certain cases, you may be directed back to your health benefits administrator if you work for a local government employer that administers their own COBRA coverage. The EBF can answer questions about how to use your plan, what your coverage offers and claim information. A full overview of all EBF plans can be viewed online at www.cseaebf.com. Filing deadline You have 60 days to sign up for COBRA after you receive your application from the EBF. All information is mailed to you upon qualification. If you have moved, please update your address by visiting www.cseaebf.com and use our “Change of Address” tool or call EBF’s Member Services Department at 800-323-2732.
